One BIG Sleep Out, Simon Community's award-winning event is back for 2021 and it’s bigger and better than ever!
This year you can get involved at Home or Away!
HOME: Any night in November, your house.
You can hold it outdoors in your back yard or garden. It can be just you or you can encourage the rest of your household to take part too! You can pitch a tent, create your own shelter, or simply sleep out under the stars.
AWAY: Thursday 4th November, Stormont Estate
Bring your friends, family or colleagues and join us at Stormont to brave the cold. Join Rebecca McKinney from COOL FM’s breakfast show and swap your bed for a sleeping bag to raise the funds and awareness needed to allow us to continue delivering specialist support to the thousands of people experiencing homelessness who pass through our doors each year.
On the night you’ll have a firepit to warm up cold hands and on the night, you’ll be treated to a BBQ, music, hot drinks until bedtime and breakfast the next morning.
Whichever way you join in, One BIG Sleep Out won’t be able to replicate the real emotional and physical difficulties of truly experiencing homelessness, but it will show you some of the realities and it will challenge you.
Help us raise awareness and the vital funds needed to continue supporting the thousands of people experiencing homelessness!

Who do Simon Community Support?
o Homelessness can happen to anyone, from all walks of life. Simon Community provides vital shelter and support to each young person, family and individual.
o 67% of the people we supported were aged between 16-35 years old.
o 35 families when they had no where else to call home.
o 203 young people supported at our dedicated youth hostels.
o It’s more than just a place to stay, Simon Community works to address the cause of each person or family’s homelessness, which vary and can include family breakdown, loss of employment or addiction.
Impact of Covid 19
The pandemic didn’t stop homelessness and we continued to provide additional support to help counter the loneliness and mental health issues that arose through this period as well as continuing to move people who were ready to live independently again into permanent accommodation.
How we supported people during Covid
Now the financial impact of covid 19 is hitting Northern Ireland, job losses and the end of furlough, we need to prepare for an increase in demand for our services once more. We need help.
Over 94p of every pound raised goes directly to frontline services here in Northern Ireland.
