Love Island's Greg O'Shea temporarily left the villa this week, after his grandmother sadly passed away on Friday 19th July.

The Irish rubgy player, who is currently coupled up with Amber Gill, was given permission by the show's producers to fly back home, which is said to be an 'unprecendented' move for the reality TV show.

Confirming the news to Limerick Live 95, Greg's dad Niall O'Shea said, "Greg is a very good family man and his mother wanted to make sure he was there because himself and his Nan got on well".

He added Greg's grandmother "passed away peacefully on 19th July 2019, in the care of Talbot Lodge Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family".

A representative for Love Island also confirmed the news, saying, "Owing to a bereavement, at the wishes of his family, Greg was away from the villa for a day to attend a funeral.

"Everyone at Love Island extends their sympathies to Greg and his family and we have since welcomed him back to the villa".

Greg's exit from the villa comes after Anton Danyluk had to leave the villa after he became ill and needed medical attention outside of the villa.

The show, nor Anton, revealed what was wrong with him, but he was welcomed back into the villa by his fellow Islanders, with them all revealing how much they had missed him.

Upon his arrival, he exclaimed, "I’m back, I'm back to my best and feeling the best I've ever felt in here, so I'm happy to be back to see the family again".#

Our thoughts are with Greg and his family.
