It's safe to say fans are looking every day for any official confirmation of a seventh series of hit BBC drama Line of Duty, so it's no surprise excitement levels rose over the weekend, when the main cast reunited alongside creator Jed Mercurio.

Actors Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar all reunited alongside Jed in Glasgow on Saturday night for a charity event in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

Sharing photos from the event, Martin, who played the role of DI Steve Arnott in the show, got fans VERY excited by mentioning AC-12.

He wrote: 'Hard to describe just how amazing last night was. Trigger Point actress Vicky McClure, who played the role of DI Kate Fleming in Line of Duty, later shared a selfie alongside her former cast mates, and creator Jed.

She also mentioned the hit show, admitting host Gordon Smart tried his best to get any series seven secrets.

She wrote: 'Gang back together for a very special charity @ardgowan_hospice Thanks to everyone who came tonight! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Thanks to everyone who came tonight! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We had such a laugh!!

'Big thanks @gordonsmart for hosting the evening and trying your best to ask Jed about series 7……. #AC12 #lineofduty'. (sic)

Meanwhile, although there's been no official confirmation of a seventh series of Line of Duty, the cast and creators have been teasing us for a while now.

In an interview with The Guardian last year, Vicky was asked about a potential new series, with her saying: "I don't know! I don't know, there's no word of it. I think we've all been really honest and said should that happen, we're all game.

"I'll just stick with the guys. I think when it comes to a close, it will be a natural close for us all."

Let's all hope the cast spoke about series seven when they reunited in Scotland, and that we hear some news soon!

In the meantime, you can watch all six series of Line of Duty on the BBC iPlayer.
