Official teaser trailer revealed for Legally Blonde prequel series Elle

Prime Video has finally unveiled the first teaser for Elle, along with a glossy batch of first-look photos that put Elle Woods’ 90s teen years firmly in the spotlight. The footage teases everything from Bel-Air sunshine to drizzle-soaked Seattle corridors, while the pics offer close-ups of the pastel outfits, school cliques and blonde hair that define this younger era of Elle’s life.

It’s our best look yet at Lexi Minetree stepping into those iconic pink heels – and a pretty clear hint that the Legally Blonde universe is about to get a lot more high-school drama, with Bruiser by her side, of course.

What is Elle about?

Elle is a coming-of-age prequel that rewinds to Elle Woods’ high-school years, long before Harvard and courtrooms enter the picture. Set in the mid-90s, it follows Elle after her comfortable Bel-Air life is upended and her family relocates to rainy Seattle, forcing her to rebuild her world from scratch. She’s navigating a new school, messy friendships and early heartbreak, all while trying to stay relentlessly upbeat and true to herself.

Lexi Minetree plays Elle, with June Diane Raphael as her mum Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her dad Wyatt, alongside Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker and Amy Pietz.

The new series promises to show the life events that shaped Elle into the confident, optimistic young woman fans first met in Legally Blonde – just with more plaid skirts and dial-up-era drama.

Is there a trailer?

Yes – and it’s our main clue to Elle’s teenage tone. The first teaser opens on Elle’s glossy Bel-Air existence before cutting to the moment everything changes and her dad reveals they’re moving. From there, we get quick glimpses of her stepping into a gloomy new school, trying to win over classmates and figuring out how to stand out without completely sticking out.

What happens in Legally Blonde 1 and 2?

In Legally Blonde which released in 2001, sorority president Elle Woods follows ex-boyfriend Warner to Harvard Law, hoping to win him back, only to discover he’s engaged and has written her off as unserious. Determined to prove him wrong, she throws herself into her studies, eventually defending fitness guru Brooke Windham in a murder trial and showing real legal talent. By graduation, she ditches Warner, finds new love with kind classmate Emmett and realises she’s far more than anyone’s stereotype.

In the 2003 follow up, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, the sequel sees Elle head to Washington, D.C. to campaign for 'Bruiser’s Bill' after discovering her Chihuahua’s mum is a cosmetic-testing lab dog. Battling jaded politicians and lobbyists, she wins unlikely allies, pushes the bill through and proves idealism and pink outfits can coexist in politics.

When is Elle out?

Elle Season 1 premieres on 1st July 2026, dropping in full on Prime Video. The series has already been renewed for a second season, with production on the next batch of episodes set to begin this spring, so viewers can expect more of Elle’s teenage adventures beyond the initial run.
