The nominations for the 2021 Irish Film & Television Awards have been announced, and BBC's Normal People scooped an impressive 15 nominations...not too bad!

Paul Mescal is up for Best Actor for his portrayal of Connell Waldron in the series, which saw him pick up a BAFTA just a few weeks ago.

Co-stars Desmond Eastwood and Fionn O’Shea are up for Best Supporting Actor. Mescal's on-screen mum Sarah Greene has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

There's stiff local competition in the Best Actor category this year. Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar and Bloodlands' James Nesbitt are also nominated for 'Best Actor in a Leading Role'.

Northern Irish film Wildfire is also recognised this year, with late actress Nika McGuigan up for Best Actress in a Lead Film.

Coming-of-age comedy Dating Amber received eight nominations, and the drama Herself received four.

We'll find out who comes out on top for the 2021 IFTA Awards virtually this year. The show will be broadcast on Virgin Media One on Sunday 4th July.
