The second series of James Nesbitt’s crime drama Bloodlands draws to a close tonight, but what will become of DCI Tom Brannick?

We’re expecting another nail-biting finale, as Tom is going to put both his life and career on the line.

Season 2 has seen multiple deaths and an investigation that has the police determined to get to the truth. We’ve had stolen gold, painful secrets, forbidden love and jump-scare murders.

The Bloodlands season 2 episode 6 synopsis reads: “Tom falters on the tightrope between his police investigation and his illicit pursuit of the murder weapon and the gold, as it all threatens to come tumbling down.”

What can we expect?

Whilst we might not know what lies in store, there are plenty of potential directions the finale might go in.

Could Tom’s past come back to bite him, as the rest of the team discover he is Goliath?

Will Izzy discover her father’s secret fling with widow Olivia Foyle?

Will the truth come out about DC Bird’s murder?

Fellow detective Niamh McGovern has been suspicious from season 1 of her senior officer, could she be next?

We cannot wait to find out!

Will there be a third series of Bloodlands?

There’s not yet been any official confirmation of a Bloodlands season 3, so this could be the final finale.

Bloodlands season 2 finale airs on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday 23rd October.
