Stephen Graham updates fans on an Adolescence spin-off
He opened up about the possibility of a related series
Last updated 24th Oct 2025
Featuring Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper, it's safe to say drama series Adolescence has had a huge impact since its release on 13th March, with more than 96 million people binging the hard-hitting Netflix show in the first few weeks.
The four intense episodes, which were all filmed in a continuous one-shot, were received with great praise from both viewers and critics, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer even admitting he's "worried" about toxic masculine behaviour on social media influencing young men, after seeing the show.
After being nominated for a huge 13 Emmy Awards, the show went on to win eight this years's ceremony, with Owen Cooper, Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty all picking up individual awards.
Will there be another series?
Although nothing has been confirmed about second series of Adolescence, it sounds like there could be something coming up, with creator Stephen Graham telling Greatest Hits Radio, that a few years down the line they might look to do something related.
He told Simon Mayo in the interview: "I think that particular story (Adolescence) has finished, and we may well at some point further down the line, maybe in a couple of years, sit around a table and come up with another possibility of an idea for something else.
"But I think as far as that story has gone, it's been told."
This follows him speaking to the Daily Mail in September 2025, when he teased: "Right now we are having talks and discussions about finding another story.
"I think we have to be tight-lipped at the moment. And we're all talking at the moment. The same concept with the idea of doing something in one take."
Back in May, Stephen spoke about the potential of future series to Variety, saying: "It still is a possibility… If we were to go again, would I like it to go again? With a different story completely? Yes.
"If we were a conventional drama, you would look at it from Katie’s perspective and we’d see the aftermath of Katie’s family. But I felt like we’d have seen that. We’ve seen that many a time. We haven’t really seen this side."
It was also announced earlier this year that Brad Pitt‘s production company Plan B Entertainment, who were behind the show, are now reportedly 'in talks' on how to create a second series, however from Stephen's interview in October it sounds like this might not be the case.
In an interview with Deadline earlier this year, Plan B Entertainment presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner said they were speaking to Director Philip Barantini about the “next iteration” of the show.
Although Dede didn't give too much away, she did confirm she hopes to get Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne back on board, as well as Warp Films and Matriarch Productions as co-producers.
Dede confessed to Deadline that Plan B Entertainment are deciding how they could “widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA and not be repetitive.”
What is Adolescence?
Released in March 2025, Adolescence tells the story of how a family’s world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school.
Starring Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller, in his first ever acting role, the series also features Missing You actor Ashley Walters and The Crown's Erin Doherty, who has been praised for her acting skills during THAT intense third episode.
Although there's talk of a spin-off, British writer Jack Thorne previously spoke to Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley on This Morning, where he dismissed a second series, saying: “I don’t think there’s anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don’t think there is a series two.
"Our aim was to try and tell Jamie’s story as fully as we possibly could, and maybe trying to tell (Katie’s) story would dilute that in some way and maybe we would be inadequate for that task."

Speaking to Variety in May, Stephen confessed his shock at the show's worldwide success.
He said: "It was always made very intently as a little British story, and I think that was the beauty of it. We didn’t expect it to transcend the way it did, but we were very true. I think it was because it was made with truth and integrity and respect and a lot of love.
"I think that transcended it. It was once in a lifetime. We tapped straight into the zeitgeist. You’ve just had something that’s gone everywhere. I mean, No. 1 in Brazil? No.1 in Saudi Arabia?"
