Wild Youth are heading to Liverpool to represent Ireland in Eurovision 2023

On Friday night, Ireland selected its entry to the 67th Eurovision Song Contest - Wild Youth beat five other acts and are heading to Liverpool in May, with the song 'We Are One'.

During a special broadcast of The Late Late Show on RTÉ, a national jury, an international jury and the all-important public tele-vote saw Wild Youth triumph with their song We Are One.

The band (Conor O'Donohoe, Ed Porter, Callum McAdam, and David Whelan) are well established in Ireland, with a string of hits.

They have previously toured with Westlife, Niall Horan, Kodaline, and Lewis Capaldi.

On top of their own sold-out tours of the UK and Ireland, Conor O’Donohoe from the band has also written a string of top hits for other artists, and co-written with Moncrief and The Script.

Taking to social media after the show, the band shared a snap, writing: "Thank you so much everyone for voting . WE ARE GOING TO THE EUROVISION"

With 7 victories, Ireland is the most successful country at the contest. The country famously won 4 out of 5 contests in the 1990s and became the first country to win 3 times in a row.

Last year saw Derry Girl Brooke Scullion from Bellaghy represent Ireland with her hit single 'That's Rich'.

The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final 2023 will take place on Saturday 13 May, with the semi-finals on Tuesday 9 and Thursday 11.

Ireland will compete in the first half of the first semi-final in Liverpool on 9 May.
