Pharrell On Oscars Nomination: "I'm Happy!"

'Happy' is up for Best Original Song at the glitzy ceremony this March

Pharrell Williams has expressed his joy after ‘Happy’ was nominated for an Oscar yesterday.

Lifted from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, ‘Happy’ is up for Best Original Song at The Dolby Theater ceremony on Sunday 2nd March.

Enthusing about his nomination, Pharrell said: "I am so grateful to the Academy, this is such a huge honour and surprise.

“I love animated films, I have since I was a kid, and working with Chris Meledandri, the Illumination team and Universal Pictures was one of the most memorable experiences I've ever had. What can I say… I'm HAPPY!"

‘Happy’will go head-to-head with U2’s ‘Ordinary Love’, Karen O’s ‘The Moon Song’, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez’s ‘Let It Go’ and Bruce Broughton’s ‘Alone Yet Not Alone’.

After slipping to number two, ‘Happy’ climbed back to the chart summit on the Vodafone Big Top 40 on Sunday.
