One Direction Set Guinness World Record
Niall Horan calls it "one of our proudest moments"
One Direction have been confirmed as entrants in the new Guinness World Records 2015 book.
The pop megastars earned their spot in the hallowed book by becoming the first international act to debut at number one with their first three studio albums.
‘Up All Night’ and ‘Take Me Home’ both stormed in at the chart summit in 2012 and ‘Midnight Memories’ continued the emphatic success a year later.
The boys announced their Guinness World Record at their sold-out show at New Jersey’s 80,000 capacity MetLife Stadium.
Niall Horan said: "This really is one of our proudest moments, both for us and our incredible fans. Whenever we talk about it we always say how cool it is that we did it first. How sick is that?!"
It’s not the first time the all-conquering One Direction have set a Guinness World Record.
Their debut album ‘Up All Night’ made them the first British group go to number one Stateside with their debut album and it was also the highest debut entry by a British group in America.
The boys also scored a couple of non-musical records on One Direction day last November including the most balloons burst in 30 seconds and the tallest toilet paper tower in 30 seconds.
