Katy Perry Roars To Vodafone Big Top 40 Number One

She knocks Ellie Goulding off the summit

Published 2nd Sep 2013

Katy Perry has stormed straight in at number one on the Vodafone Big Top 40 with her awesome new single ‘Roar’.

Already a chart-topping smash around the globe, UK fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on the single and within hours of going on sale it roared straight in at the chart summit.

Katy’s chart triumph ends Ellie Goulding’s three-week residency at number one with her colossal smash hit ‘Burn.’

Elsewhere, Drake’s new release ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ climbed into the top ten at no.8 this week while fellow MTV VMAs performer Lady Gaga jumped two spots to no.6 with ‘Applause’.

After his greatest hits medley at the VMAs, Justin Timberlake’s ‘Take Back The Night’ is this week’s highest climber leapfrogging seven places to no.22.

Olly Murs' next single, 'Right Place, Right Time' was a new entry at no. 39 – a track that should climb the charts in the coming weeks.

However, it’s bad news for Matt Cardle and Melanie C. Their duet ‘Loving You’ is the Biggest Faller plummeting 22 places to 36. Ouch.

The Vodafone Big Top 40 top 10 is as follows:

  1. Katy Perry ‘Roar’ 2. Ellie Goulding ‘Burn’ 3. Avicii ‘Wake Me Up’ 4. Klangkarussell feat. Will Hard ‘Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine)’ 5. Miley Cyrus ‘We Can’t Stop’ 6. Lady Gaga ‘Applause’ 7.
