Justin Bieber is set to become an astronaut after signing up for a trip into space!

!The 19-year-old pop megastar is the latest big name to buy an ultra-expensive seat on Virgin Galactic's planned commercial space missions.

Justin and his manager Scooter Braun are thought to have paid a $250,000 (£160,000) deposit for the space trip when the commercial flights become available.

Breaking the news, Virgin head honcho Sir Richard Branson Tweeted: "Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts. Congrats, see you up there!"

Bieber didn’t respond to the news on his on Twitter page, but he did retweet Sir Richard confirming the news.

When the flight takes place, Justin and Scooter will jet up to 62 miles of altitude – the internationally accepted boundary of outer space – where they will see the curve of earth and experience a few minutes of weightlessness.

Although unaffordable for most people, with an estimated worth of £70million the Virgin Galactic trip is small change for Justin.

He joins stars Ashton Kutcher, Sarah Brightman and Victoria Principal who have already signed up for the trip.
