Ed Sheeran says he’s hoping to release three albums in the next three years.

Fans have been waiting patiently for the follow-up to 2011’s 1.5million selling ‘+’ and now it seems three are going to come in quick succession!

"I've demoed 70 songs," 22-year-old Ed told Rolling Stone. "I'm hoping to release three (albums) in three years."

Earlier this year Ed relocated to Henderson, Tennessee near to where the late-great country legend Johnny Cash once lived, and the lakeside surroundings are proving a great inspiration.

Ed told the US magazine that he’s unsure about the direction of the new material but he has been seeking advice from super-producer Rick Rubin (Jay-Z, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West).

"Rick had an idea of me recording it completely acoustic and then adding (instrumentation later)," he said. "There are just so many tunes and so many directions to go with the album that I don't really know."

Shedding light on the working environment, Ed continued: "He's got one beanbag in this big room and two speakers by the beanbag, and you sit on the beanbag and play him tunes.

"It's completely sparse — there's nothing in it but a beanbag and two speakers. It's amazing."

Ed is currently main support on the North American leg of Taylor Swift’s sprawling Red Tour.
