5 Seconds of Summer are working on new music alongside Katy Perry collaborator Bonnie McKee.

McKee has co-written a number of Katy Perry’s biggest songs including ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Roar.’

The singer-songwriter has also worked alongside artists such as Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Leona Lewis.

She posted a picture of herself with 5 Seconds of Summer drummer Ashton Irwin, alongside the caption: “Just writing songs about sexy stuff.”

Last year the band revealed that they hoped to have an album out sometime in 2015.

Ashton told Billboard at the time: “I don't want to write the same album again, so I go out there and see what life has for me, and then I'll go back and I'll write about it.

"We've got a lot of time coming up, actually, to write and record again, so I'm really looking forward to that 'cause I'm feeling like I miss that at the moment."

Joel and Benji Madden have also hinted they are collaborating with 5SOS after posting a picture with Ashton and Luke.

Joel captioned the image: “Late night jamz”

The Madden Brothers worked with the band on their self-titled debut album last year, with the record earning a number two spot in the UK charts.
