Forget the porridge, it will be marmalade sandwiches all round as Paddington fans get the chance to watch the adventures of the little bear in Crumlin Road Gaol.

A special event has been organised by Into Film for the annual celebration of movies at Cinema Day 2018 on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27th.

The film education organisation chose Paddington 2 to tie in with this year’s Cinema Day theme of ‘Home’.

“Paddington 2 is one of the most popular films on our Into Film Club catalogue so we felt it a perfect choice for families for Cinema Day, not to mention the link with the prison venue and a healthy supply of homemade marmalade sandwiches” explained Into Film Programme Delivery Co-ordinator Peter Murray.

Into Film is a UK-wide charity with a regional hub in Northern Ireland, which aims to put film at the heart of children and young people's education, helping to support their academic, cultural, and social development. The organisation supports film clubs by offering a film catalogue and educational resources and tools as well as offering training and development opportunities for teachers and students.

“We feel Cinema Day is so important as it gives young people a shared cinema experience with their family and peers. It’s also a great opportunity for young people to experience film exhibition in a different environment, whether that be their local cinema or a non-cinema setting, such as Crumlin Road Gaol, in the case of our Paddington 2 screening,” he added.

The screening is free – including marmalade sandwiches - and tickets can be obtained online at Event Bride. For more information about Into Film go to www.intofilm.org
