By now it’s safe to say that most of us have exhausted our Netflix library and are craving something more. Like the monster screen, comfy seats, dimmed lights and fresh popcorn!

Since cinemas closed last year, the most anticipated films for 2020, including the latest James Bond thriller No Time To Die and the long-awaited Top Gun: Maverick, were delayed multiple times due to the pandemic.

Even some of this year’s Oscar-winning performances were only available to rent online.

Not to worry thought, this just means we’ve got a cracking line-up to enjoy very soon!

There were a number of safety protocols put in place for customers visiting cinemas last year. We’re predicting the same measures will be necessary for reopening later this month– including, socially-distanced seating, staggered start and finish times, face coverings, hand sanitisers and extra cleaning.

Check out the latest movies hitting the big screen this summer:

Quiet Place IIA Quiet Place II

Now this looks amazing! A Quiet Place II is the follow up to John Krasinski’s directorial debut, which had audiences gripped from start to finish. Peaky Blinders legend Cillian Murphy joins the cast this time, as a grieving family are forced to live in silence to hide from terrifying monsters.

No Time To Die

Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 is just around the corner! It’s believed that the plot finds Bond after he has left the secret service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. Suddenly his old friend Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, from the CIA turns up asking for help. Sounds menacing…

Cruella

Emma Stone is transformed into the dognapping Disney villain Cruella De Vil. Disney recently confirmed that their upcoming live-action film Cruella will have a brand new original song by Florence + The Machine on the soundtrack.

Black Widow

Marvel’s superheroine Black Widow returns to the screen, this time without her Avengers. This will be the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it takes a look into the past of the flame-haired Natasha Romanoff.

Top Gun 2 Maverick

This sequel is 35 years in the making, so you know it’s going to be epic! There’s only one guy that could take the lead on this one, that’s right, Tom Cruise is back in the pilot’s seat as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell.

Nomadland

Nomadland scooped best picture and best actress for Frances McDormand at the 2021 Oscars. It follows a woman who embarks on a journey through the American West while living in a van. It’s already available on Disney+ right now, but the incredible landscape shots will look even more spectacular on the big screen.

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

Kids will go mad for this one, as Beatrix Potter’s boisterous bunny is back! Peter Rabbit (voiced by James Corden) joins Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail for another risky adventure beyond the garden gates.

Ammonite

Starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan, this movie depicts a same-sex romance between the pair in the 1840s. Winslet plays the real-life self-taught palaeontologist and fossilist Mary Anning, opposite Ronan as melancholy young newlywed Charlotte Murchison.

The Father

We’ll finally get to see the Bafta and Oscar-winning performance from Sir Anthony Hopkins in The Father. He stars alongside Olivia Colman, playing a man slipping into dementia.

In The Heights

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s brings us his earlier Broadway musical In the Heights. Fellow Hamilton star Anthony Ramos will have us dancing in the aisles, socially-distanced of course.

Fast And Furious 9

Filming for the 9th movie took place back in 2019, across various locations including London, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Thailand, and Georgia. It was originally scheduled to premiere in May this year but has been postponed until late June in the US. It looks like this might be a late summer blockbuster.
