It’s almost time for the cast of Sir Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast to don their tuxedos once again, as another glamorous nod from Hollywood is on the way.

Earlier this week the semi-autobiographical feature film about Sir Kenneth Branagh's home city in the early years of the Troubles, received a Golden Globe award for Best Screenplay.

Nominations for the upcoming Screen Actor Guild Awards (SAG Awards) have just been announced.

Caitriona Balfe has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as ‘Ma’ in Belfast.

Sadly, there was no nomination for Jamie Dornan in the upcoming black-and-white hit, but the entire cast of the film was nominated for Best Motion Picture Cast.

This coming-of-age tale has been tipped for success since early last year, but with local audiences just a few weeks away from getting their hands on cinema tickets to watch it, the real judges will be those that live and breathe Belfast.

The star of the film, young Jude Hill who plays Buddy, recalls just how close he felt to his on screen family whilst filming.

“Every single member of this cast is now my acting family, they are all my friends, they’re really good people.”

Speaking at the Irish premiere last November, Jude shares his highlight from the movie. “Probably filming the riot scene was the best, as well as the hardest scene to film. There was so many things going on, I loved it and I loved being in that moment.”

This year's SAG Awards ceremony will take place on February 27 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
