A breath-taking new trailer for the heartrending movie Brooklyn has premiered online.

Based on the award-winning book of the same name by Colm Tóibín, Brooklyn stars Saoirse Ronan as Ellis, a young woman in the 1950s who decamps to the bright lights of New York from her small Irish village.

Initially crippled by homesickness, her prospects look up when she falls in love with a man called Ellis, however, when tragedy brings her back to Ireland, Ellis must make an agonising choice between two men and two countries.

Met with rapturous reviews after its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, Brooklyn also stars Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond The Pines), Jim Broadbent (Iris) and Julie Walters (Billy Elliot) and is directed by John Crowley (Intermission).

Brooklyn hits cinemas in the UK this November.
