WATCH: Justin Bieber reveals why he cried onstage at the MTV VMAs
It all got a bit too much for him
Never one to stay out of the headlines, Justin Bieber provided one of the big talking points at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend when he broke down on tears on stage.
Shortly after performing his two-song medley of ‘Where Are U Now’ and ‘What Do You Mean?’, emotion got the better of Biebs and he cried in front of the tens of millions watching around the globe.
Now, in an interview with chat show legend Jimmy Fallon, the 21-year-old Canadian has revealed that he cried because he DIDN’T get booed by the crowd.
Justin said: “I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way that they did. Last time I was at an award show, I was booed. I think I’ve worked so hard on this album.
“I’ve worked so hard at just becoming the man I want to become. Stepping into situations, you just can’t help but feel judged. I was just feeling judged and wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I love so badly that I just put everything on the line.”
He added: “That’s what’s so special about the emotional moment at the end. It was authentic, it was real. I was really just wanting it so bad.”
Heavy stuff.
The other big news events of the night came when Nicki Minaj dissed VMAs host Miley Cyrus live on stage and Kanye West professed he would be running for President in 2020.
The unstoppable Taylor Swift was the big winner on the night taking home four prestigious honours.
