Following his arrest for disorderly conduct in NYC

Transformers and The Fury actor Shia LeBeouf is receiving voluntary treatment for alcohol addiction.

The announcement from his rep comes six days after Shia was arrested for disturbing a Broadway production of the musical Cabaret in New York.

The 28-year-old was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing for his antics that allegedly included swearing and smoking during the live show.

Denying media reports that Shia has checking into rehab, the actor’s spokesperson told TMZ he is receiving treatment of his own accord. "Contrary to previous erroneous reports, Shia LaBeouf has not checked into a rehabilitation facility but he is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction,” they said.

"He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery.

"There will be no further comments made at this time."

Shia is due in court in New York on Thursday 24th July.
