Scrubs’ fans are fundraising for Sam Lloyd who played Ted after brain tumour and lung cancer diagnosis
The actor welcomed his first child in January
Sam Lloyd, best known for playing Ted in popular American hospital comedy Scrubs, has been diagnosed with a brain tumour that had reportedly metastasised from his lungs.
The actor and his wife, Vanessa, had only recently welcomed their first child, baby Weston, in January.
Following the awful news, the 55-year-old's former Scrubs colleagues are trying to raise money for his medical treatments through a GoFundMe campaign. The campaign is fronted by executive producer Tim Holbert.
Since launching the page on February 4th, family, friends and fans have raised over $100,000 (2,978 people in 2 days).
On the page, Holbert goes into detail about his dear friend's diagnosis and shares some kind words, saying, 'Sam is, simply put, a sweet, kind, and generous soul. Through his music and acting, and most of all his friendship, he has blessed all of our lives immeasurably. Throughout his wonderful life, including his more than 30 years in Los Angeles, Sam has perfected the fine art of friendship. So many of those friends have reached out, wanting to know how they can help support him and his family during this difficult time.' sic
The actor's fellow co-stars have taken to Twitter to further share their support. Zach Braff, best known for playing J. D. in the show, wrote, 'Tragic news from our beloved Sam (aka, Ted the Lawyer). I will of course be getting involved. Please send him your love.' sic
Also sharing the page is fellow Scrubs actress Kate Micucci, who is known for playing Stephanie Gooch, saying, 'My pal Sam is fighting cancer. He played Ted on SCRUBS. He’s an incredible person and a new dad. Please donate if you can. ❤️' sic
Our thoughts are with Sam and his family.
