Sam Thompson opens up about the future as he reveals he'd 'love' to be a dad
Sam appeared on the Loose Women and Men panel
Sam Thompson opened up about his future with his girlfriend Zara McDermott, as he sweetly revealed that he'd 'love' to become a dad one day.
Appearing on a special episode of Loose Women and Men alongside panellist Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha, and Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe, Sam opened up about his ADHD and his desire to have kids.
As the panel discussed parenthood, Sam opened up about his future plans and said: "Yeah, absolutely. One day I would love to, I'd love to be a dad and I want to be a protector, I love the idea.
"I would love to be that person that my kid looked up to and you know, protect and hopefully teach and be proud of and stuff like that but like Johannes just said, the time isn't now because I'm not done being selfish with my own life.
"I know there's not a perfect time to have kids, but I feel like I want to be in a place where I can allocate as much time to that child as possible, because their life is the most important thing from the moment they come."
Sam also opened up about how his ADHD impacts him - including in his relationship with Zara. He said: "In my relationship with my girlfriend, for example, if she was telling me something about her day or something like that, you've got to try your hardest to be as focused as you possibly can without your attention sort of going left, right and centre.
"I really wanted my relationship with my girlfriend to be the best it can possibly be and I want to make her as happy as I can and I know that I can do that by going into these therapies and stuff."
He added: "When I wasn't diagnosed or anything, I was always annoying myself. I'd say that I'd be like, 'Dude, you need to find out whether you're just like a bad bloke or if there's something else going on', because you do feel a bit like a narcissist.
"Sometimes I sit there and I just struggle to focus on what you're saying, but you're asking me about my day and I'll tell you everything."

Sam Thompson: Is This ADHD?
In a documentary which aired on E4 in 2023, we followed Sam as he made the decision to get tested for ADHD, and explored what a possible diagnosis might mean for him. For years, his girlfriend Zara, as well as friends and family, told him he exhibits signs of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), with Sam finally deciding to get tested as he approached his 30th birthday.
The documentary saw a rawer side of Sam, as his behaviour is placed 'under a microscope'. With him widely known for his larger-than-life and creative personality, we see him question whether medication could change the persona he's built his career on.

Following the release, Sam spoke of how he was a fan of the original film, saying that taking part was a "no brainer", continuing: "It's such a bucket list thing, to be able to go in and do something that all of these amazing people (have done)".
