Rita Ora has spoken openly about her split with Calvin Harris for the first time.

After a whirlwind 13-month relationship, Rita confirmed on Twitter back in June that she Calvin were splitting up.

In a fresh interview with Cosmopolitan Magazine, Rita has blamed being apart due to their hectic schedules for their parting.

"There's only so much you can do when you don't see each other,” Rita said. “I really admire people who have long-distance relationships. It's an incredible achievement. I couldn't do it.

“He was the right guy but it was the wrong time. I was about to start a tour and he was also all over the place."

Two months after their split in August, Rita was stopped from performing the song Calvin wrote for her, ‘I Will Never Let You Down’, at the Teen Choice Awards prompting speculation the split wasn’t amicable.

Calvin told his 5million Twitter followers: “You’ll only know 1 side of the story RE Teen choice awards because I choose not to talk to the papers about every aspect of my personal life.”

“But just know I had a damn good reason.”

Earlier this summer it was revealed that Calvin Harris is the richest DJ on the planet with estimated earnings of £39.7million over the past year.
