OUCH! Robin Thicke's New Album Flops Selling Just 530 Copies
'Paula' charts at a lowly number 200
Poor Robin Thicke. The singer’s intensely personal new album ‘Paula’ has reportedly flopped in the UK selling just 530 copies.
Dedicated to his estranged wife Paula Patton, it seems the British record buying public were put off by the ‘warts and all’ introspective nature of the album.
The lowly tally of 530 sales saw Paula debut at number 200 on the UK album chart on Sunday. Ouch!
Robin’s previous album, ‘Blurred Lines’, sold a highly respectable 25,981 copies in its first week last summer and peaked at the number one spot.
The single of the same name featuring T.I and Pharrell Williams was the biggest selling song of 2013 in the UK with over 1million units shifted.
Although ‘Paula’ has flopped in the UK, it should just about dent the Top 10 Stateside with estimated sales of 25,000 copies.
At the BET Awards in Los Angeles last month, Robin fought back the tears on stage as he dedicated his song ‘Forever Love’ to Paula.
Clearly emotional, Robin looked into the camera and said: "Good evening, my name is Robin Thicke, I’d like to dedicate this song to my wife, and say, 'I miss you, and I’m sorry.' This is called Forever Love."
Visibly moved at times during the piano ballad, Robin even paused the song momentarily to wipe his nose after a little whimper. Bless.
