Nominations for The Jameson Empire Awards 2015 revealed!
The Imitation Game, Dawn of the Planet of the Ape and the Hobbit lead the charge
The nominations list for The Jameson Empire Awards 2015 has been revealed this morning.
Voted for entirely by moviegoers themselves, the shortlisted films are an eclectic mix of blockbusters, critically acclaimed gems and independent releases.
Leading the charge is World War II epic The Imitation Game, which received nods in six of the 11 categories - Jameson Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Thriller, Best British Film, and Best Film.
Despite only picking up a solitary Oscar and BAFTA nomination, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies picked up four nominations including Best Film, Best Sci-fi/Fantasy and Best Director.
Also on four nominations is fellow box office smash Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and action spy movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne is unsurprisingly nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, while the movie has is also up for Best British Film and Best Actress.
Also up for multiple awards are Gone Girl, Boyhood, The Babadook, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Guest, Interstellar, Paddington and Under The Skin.
Empireās editor-in-chief Morgan Rees said of the shortlist: "The Jameson Empire Awards 2015, powered by the savviest film-loving readership on the planet, are a huge celebration of the best cinema has to offer.
ā2014 gave us films that tackle the big questions of the universe and movies about walking trees and talking bears. It promises to be a fantastic night."
Hobbit actor James Nesbitt will once again return to host the star-studded ceremony on Sunday 29th March.
Attendees last year included Tom Cruise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emma Thompson, Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, J. J. Abrams, James McAvoy and Rosamund Pike.
