Liam Hemsworth has opened up about his romance with Miley Cyrus claiming the pair ‘needed the break’ they went on.

The on/off couple rekindled their romance earlier in the year after calling off their engagement in 2013 and rumours suggested the actor had put the ring back on her finger when Miley posted a series of snaps wearing the stunning diamond.

However, despite this both Liam and Miley have kept a low profile together.

Now, The Hunger Games star has opened up about his romance in a recent interview with GQ Australia.

Speaking about the reconciliation he said “People will figure it out, they already have… They’re not dumb’ before going on to talk about the break-up.

The 26-year-old added “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time, we both needed that.”

Liam shared a throwback snap with Miley to his Instagram account at the weekend following the death of sporting legend, Muhammed Ali. He captioned the shot with “I’ll never forget the day we met the toughest man on the planet’.

Despite being two of the biggest stars on the planet, Liam also admitted he doesn’t like to pay attention to what is going on in the press. He said “I don’t read or listen to the press and these days I don’t base my decision on it at all.”

Before confirming they were back on, rumours started to speculate they had reconciled when the they were spotted at a New Year’s Eve party in Australia, before paparazzi shots caught Miley moving her belongings into Liam’s Malibu home.

By the sounds of it the pair are totally happy at the moment.

Hopefully we will have a reason to buy a hat soon!
