Katie Price has confirmed she is keen to adopt a newborn baby from abroad after slamming critics who accused her of doing it for ‘publicity’.

Speaking on today’s (Friday 16th September) episode of Loose Women, the mum-of-five admitted she was appalled when she received messaged on social media saying she was only planning on adopting a child to get her name in the press.

She angrily said "You cannot adopt a child for press. There are lots of things I want publicity for but I wouldn't adopt a child for that reason. That's a human being! I've said for years that I want to adopt and now is the right time."

She later added “How can I be criticised for wanting to give a child a home? These people moaning, why don't you adopt!"

The 38-year-old revealed she is looking into the process to adopt a newborn baby from abroad after chatting with her fellow Loose Women co-star Saira Khan, who adopted her daughter from Pakistan.

Katie said she wouldn't consider an older child due to the impact it could have on her five children. She explained “If I were to have a five or seven-year-old, I would worry about the kid having behavioural problems. I wouldn't want that to affect my kids.”

Katie admitted she has already been in contact with an orphanage in Bulgaria but revealed she is yet to decide which country herself and husband Kieran Hayler will adopt from.

When the other panel members asked Katie how Kieran feels about adoption, the former glamour model jokingly said “He doesn't have a say... No of course he does.”
