Justin Bieber slams ‘hollow’ award shows and people with ‘fake smiles’
Biebs is not happy
Justin Bieber has slammed award show guests who care more about camera time and networking than they do about the actual awards.
Biebs appeared at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (22nd May) where he picked up with the award for Top Male Artist but he certainly didn’t seem too thrilled after the show.
The ‘What Do You Mean’ singer was slammed by viewers for looking ‘bored’ and ‘lip-syncing’ during his live performance on the night which left him furious.
Taking to Instagram to vent his feelings, Biebs wrote a very long winded post about how he feels like people are ‘rating and grading’ his performance.
Sharing a seemingly random picture, Justin said “I don’t know about these award shows. No disrespect to anybody at any of the shows or the people running it. Nothing but love for you guys and your support. But I don’t feel good when I’m there nor after'. (Sic)
He went on to say ‘I try to think of it as a celebration but can’t help feeling like people are rating and grading my performance. A lot of people in the audience there seem worried about how much camera time they will get or who they can network with. When I’m doing a regular show I feel they are there for the right reasons and to strictly have a good time! But these award shows seem so hollow. I get the premise is to award people for their accomplishments, but it is really? Because when I look in the audience I see a bunch of fake smiles so that when the camera hits them they look happy. (Sic)
‘Sure there are people truly proud of others so I don’t want to knock them I’m just looking at the vast majority. I just want the reward to be living my purpose I want the reward to be fulfilment. I’m getting awarded for the things that I’m doing and not for who I am which is understandable I know it would probably be hard to calculate and award someone’s spirit lol'. (Sic)
Bringing his rant to an end, he then added 'When I do get these awards the temptation of putting my worth in what I do is so hard to fight!!! I am privileged and honoured to be recognized by my peers in but in these settings I can’t feel the recognition. There’s an authenticity missing that I crave! And I wonder does anybody else… Sorry not sorry about grammar it’s not my strong point'. (Sic)
Justin was one of many artists to perform at the awards as he danced his way through hit song ‘Sorry’ and debuted his new track ‘Company’.
The 22-year-old's outburst comes just weeks after he banned fans from taking photos with him in the street after he claimed ‘he felt like a zoo animal’.
Posting the message out to his 65 million Instagram followers, Justin told fans ‘If you happen to see me out somewhere know that I’m not gonna take a picture, I’m done taking pictures’.
Whilst some fans didn’t agree with his message, true 'Beliebers' were fully supportive of his decision.
Biebs is currently on his Purpose World Tour and is expected to arrive in the UK in November.
We can’t wait!
