Trainspotting is a 1996 British comedy directed by Danny Boyle. It starred Ewan McGregor, Robery Carlyle, Kevin McKidd, Ewan Bremner and Jonny Lee Miller as a group of heroin addicts living in Edinburgh in the 80's. Now, 20 years after the original, the cult classic is finally getting a sequel.

Ewan McGregor visited our studios with Stellan Skarsgard to talk about their new film, Our Kind of Traitor, but whilst we had him we had to ask what it was like to reunite with the cast for Trainspotting 2.

He described reading through the script as 'so strange and lovely'. He went on to tell us that it was 'very strange to be back in that room 20 years later, to be hearing the voices again'.

The original Trainspotting film has been ranked 10th by the British Film Institute in its list of Top 100 British Films of all time. In 2004, a general public poll voted the film the best Scottish movie of all time.

Fans are excited about the upcoming film, and have been tweeting pictures from filming in Edinburgh.

Trainspotting 2 is due for release in 2017. Ewan McGregor can be seen next in Our Kind of Traitor.
