Ed Sheeran lookalike says he's regularly mistaken for the popstar

Earlier this week photos of Wesley Byrne from Manchester went viral after he was compared to the multi-award winning Ed Sheeran. And on Tuesday Wesley appeared on This Morning to explain what it's like to be an unsuspecting lookalike.

Speaking to This Morning hosts Phillip and Holly, the Asda worker explained he sometimes gets told off at work for posing for selfies after shoppers think he is the real Ed Sheeran. Wesley went on to explain that he gets stopped more often if Ed has a single out, or is on tour, but it does happen all the time.

The lookalike said he often gets asked for his autograph, but he refuses to do it. He went on to explain how he was first noticed as a lookalike, "It started when I was on a night out and this random guy was adamant that I was him.

"He asked me to sing something and I had to show him my passport to prove I wasn't him.

"I didn't find out who he was until a friend at college said 'Google Ed Sheeran, you look exactly like him.'"

Wesley went on to say, "Some of the smaller kids, I don't have the heart to tell them I'm not Ed so I say 'yep, the music didn't work out.'"

While on This Morning Welsey was sent out onto the streets of London to perform one of Ed's huge hits 'Shape Of You' to see if he could fool passers-by, and it worked! One passer-by stopped to watch him saying, "It's got to be you, it's got to be you."
