Daniel Radcliffe speaks about reprising the role of Harry Potter
The actor was asked about appearing in 'The Cursed Child'
After the incredible reaction to the J.K. Rowling’s theatre production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, rumours have begun swirling that a film adaptation could be on the cards.
Reporters were then keen to quiz Daniel Radcliffe about the possibility of him reprising the most famous role of his career. At this weekend’s Deauville Film Festival the actor said, “I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do.”
However he went on to say that he feels he is far too young to play the 40-year-old version of Harry Potter that appears in the new play. He explained, “At the moment it’s not even a concern because I’m too young to play the character, but even in 10 years’ time I would still feel strange about going back to it."
He went on to say he would be happy for someone else to portray Harry Potter.
He finished by saying that to go back to the role the circumstances would have to be pretty extraordinary but added "I am sure Harrison Ford said that with Han Solo and look what happened there!”
The Cursed Child shows Harry, Hermonie, Ron and Draco all grown up and trying to navigate through adult life. The play focuses on Harry's youngest son Albus who struggles with living in his father's famous footsteps.
The Harry Potter prequel film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is released on November 18th, 2016. Watch the trailer here:
