Daniel Craig calls womanising James Bond “sad and lonely”
He’s not even sure he likes him
It’s the role that’s catapulted him to global superstardom, but Daniel Craig isn’t sure he even likes James Bond the person!
Speaking to the latest issue of Esquire Magazine, 47-year-old Daniel, who has been married to Rachel Weisz for four years, says he pities the personal life of the fictional British secret agent 007.
Speaking about Bond’s trait of sleeping with women then casting them aside, Daniel said: “He’s very fing lonely. There’s a great sadness. He’s fing these beautiful women but then they leave and it’s… sad.
“And as a man gets older it’s not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy – that’s debatable – but the reality, after a couple of months…”
Asked whether Bond is a ‘fantasy character for a Britain that no longer exists’, Daniel responded: “Hopefully. My Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as (earlier incarnations).
“The world has changed. I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies.”
Incredibly, Daniel is even unsure whether he’d like to go for a night out with 007: “I don’t know if I’d like to spend too much time with him.
“Maybe an evening but it would have to be early doors. What goes on after hours, I’m not so sure about. But I don’t judge him. It’s not the job of an actor to judge your character.”
Daniel Craig’s fourth James Bond movie Spectre his UK cinemas on 26th October.
