Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum has opened up about the unexpected death of a childhood friend with a heartbreaking message. The 38-year-old actor took to his Instagram page to share a statement and a childhood photo of the good friends. The statement read, 'My sister Paige posted something recently i wanted to build on as well. My very first best friend Corey Vaughn left this world for the next this Tuesday the 21st. Man there's so much to say.' sic
Channing, whose family moved around a lot when he was young, recounted how his friend stuck up for him when he moved to Mississippi saying, 'I'll never forget this crazy ass and how he stuck up for and protected me when i first moved to Mississippi'. He finished his statement saying, 'And I'll forever miss ya man. Love ya my brother.'
The reason for Corey's death has not yet been revealed.
It's been a difficult year for Channing, who split from his wife of nine years, Jenna Dewan, in April. The couple announced the shock news to fans in a joint statement on social media. It read, 'First off, it feels odd that we have to share this kind of thing with everyone, but it’s a consequence of the lives we’ve chosen to lead, which we also happen to be deeply grateful for. We’re living in an incredible moment in time, but it’s also a time where truth can easily get distorted into 'alternative facts' so we want to share the truth so you know that if you didn’t read it here then it’s most certainly fiction.
'We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.'
The pair went on to add that they remain great friends, writing, 'There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision — just two best-friends realising it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.'
'We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan & Jenna.'

Channing is known for his roles in Magic Mike and G.I. Joe, however his most recent role is VERY different. The actor will play the part of Migo in an upcoming animation called Smallfoot. As well as Channing as the lead character, the film also stars popular talk show host James Corden as Percy, a human Mountaineering climber, and American actress Zendaya who plays Meechee, a yeti who believes in the Smallfoot and leads the S.E.S. (Smallfoot Exists Suckas).
Smallfoot will be Channing's first film since Kingsman: The Golden Circle which was released last year. The follow-up to the 2014 film Kingsman: The Secret Service saw Channing take on the role of Tequila, a Statesman agent who develops a blue rash and shows signs of mania.
