They're "both over the moon"
Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.
After reports emerged yesterday of the pregnancy, Benedict’s publicist confirmed to E! News saying they are “both over the moon.”
The Sherlock and Imitation Game actor, 38, began dating theatre and opera director Sophie, 36, last summer and they got engaged in November.
The engagement became public when Benedict posted a brief notice in the Forthcoming Marriages section of The Times.
! The screen idol’s legions of fans have already nicknamed the unborn child a “Cumber-bun.”
Benedict has previously made no secret of the fact that he wants to be a dad telling The Guardian in 2011 he’s been broody “for ever.”
"Maybe it's because I was an only child, but I've always wanted kids,” he said. “I've realised now that the reality of children is you have to be in the right place with the right person."
Benedict split with fashion designer Anna Jones after a two-year romance in 2012. He previously dated screenwriter Olivia Poulet for a decade.
