Olly Murs forced to CANCEL upcoming shows due to illness
He was forced to leave the stage in Glasgow on Thursday night
Last updated 23rd May 2025
Pop star Olly Murs is celebrating a massive 15 years with a huge tour. The singer, known for hits such as 'Dear Darlin'', 'Troublemaker', 'Dance With Me Tonight', 'Wrapped Up', and 'Heart Skips a Beat' initially announced a 16-date arena tour, set to take place in April and May, he then announced some summer dates.
Has Olly cancelled shows?
Glasgow (22nd May)
During his show in Glasgow on Thursday 22nd May, Olly was forced to leave the stage and cancel the show after just six songs, revealing his voice 'sounded rubbish' due to an infection.
Speaking in a video backstage, Olly told his followers: “I’ve never done this in 15 years. I didn’t think I couldn’t do the show, because I wouldn’t have come out there otherwise.
“So to walk off after six songs, as I said I’m so sorry… as you can probably hear in my voice, it sounded rubbish, and it’s unfair for you guys that have spent all that money to come and see me, you deserve the best show, and me being at my best.”
Manchester and Birmingham (23rd and 24th May)
On the morning of Friday 23rd May, Olly took to social media to confirm he'd have to cancel his upcoming shows in Manchester and Birmingham, revealing he's contracted a respiratory infection and been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest.
He wrote: 'Never expected to be writing this today 😞
'To everyone in Glasgow last night, I want to start by saying sorry. What happened last night has never happened to me before and I’m truly gutted and upset about it. In 15years I’ve never had to leave the stage after 30minutes into a show, but my voice was failing me. I was panicking and worrying on what to do which gave me no choice but to address it. The thought of upsetting people and letting you the fans down has hit me hard today. Speaking in front of you last night and seeing people upset was hard to see but from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry but I had to put my health first x
'To everyone in Manchester and Birmingham I’m deeply sorry but I am unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows there this weekend. I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords. I’ve been having the best time on this tour and I’m so sorry to let my fans down, I’m hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15 year celebratory tour with a bang.
'All fans will be refunded directly from their point of purchase. This will happen automatically over the next week. X
'Sorry again for this, I love you guys and I think anyone that knows me knows how much I love being on stage and performing. I’m hurting big time'. (sic)
Hull and Brighton (26th and 27th April)
After just one date of the tour, Olly had to postpone his gigs in Hull and Brighton. The singer shared a short statement on social media, writing: 'In case anyone missed the announcement yesterday, I just want to reiterate that the shows in Brighton and Hull are cancelled and will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
'I'm absolutely gutted, but it's the right decision to make sure myself, the band and crew get back to full health as soon as we can.
'We'll be back for Dublin next week
'So sorry - Love you all OM x.'
When are the new dates?
Thankfully, Olly has been able to reschedule the dates for Hull and Brighton, with the Hull date moving from 27th April to 20th May, and the Brighton date moving from 26th April to 27th May.
New dates for Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham are yet to be announced.
