The Hairy Bikers’ Si King got up on stage at the Dave Day 2025 concert in Barrow-in-Furness over the weekend to sing Thin Lizzy classic ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ with Darren Wharton’s Renegade.

Following the huge success of the inaugural event in 2024, the second Dave Day charity motorcycle ride honouring late Hairy Biker star Dave Myers took place on Saturday 21st June.

An estimated 30,000 bikers embarked on the second 300+ mile ride-out, which commenced at the Ace Cafe in North London at 7am and finished in Dave Myers’ hometown of Barrow-in-Furness at 2.45pm.

Dave’s Hairy Bikers co-star and best mate Si King once again led the ride, while Dave’s widow Lili arrived riding pillion to a rapturous welcome from the many thousands of people who lined the streets.

After the ride, the Dave Day charity concert was held Barrow Town Hall on the Saturday afternoon and evening with AC/DC tribute act Hells Bells topping the bill.

Darren Wharton’s Renegade performed a set of Thin Lizzy classics in the special guest slot, and Si King joined the band on stage to share vocal duties on ‘The Boys Are Back in Town’ with Darren Wharton.

Speaking to the BBC, Si King said of Dave Day 2025: "Last year was fantastic and this year is amazing. It's a culmination of what motorcycles are about - community, friendship and fellowship".

Lili Myers said there was “so much joy” on the ride, adding” "It's a feeling of energy, celebration and that's what's important, that's what we wanted to bring in Barrow.”

The 2024 event raised a massive £127,460.60 for charity, and all proceeds from this year’s Dave Day are going to NSPCC Childline, and CancerCare North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Much loved Planet Rock presenter Dave Myers died aged 66 on 28th February 2024 following a heroic two-year battle with cancer.
