An estimated 46,000 motorcyclists have completed a ‘Dave Day’ tribute ride-out in honour of late Hairy Bikers legend and long-time Planet Rock presenter Dave Myers.

The 300+ mile ride from North London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria was led by Dave's Hairy Bikers co-star Si King, and Dave’s wife Lili.

Starting at Ace Café at 7am, the ‘Dave Day’ ride stopped off in Oxford, Solihull, Knutsford, and Kendal before the first riders arrived at Barrow-in-Furness Town Hall shortly before 5pm.

Planet Rock presenter Mark Jeeves took part in the entire ride from London to Barrow, and gave updates throughout the day on air and on social media.

At the finish line, Si King spoke to the riders, saying: "Thank you. You’ve made David Myers very proud."

According to the BBC, Dave’s wife Lili told the bikers: "Dave was always a Barrovian in his heart, he loved Barrow and he wanted to put Barrow on the map.

"And today, beyond his grave, he’s done it again."

Si King speaks to Mark Jeeves:

Speaking to Mark Jeeves during the ride, Si thanked Planet Rock listeners for their enduring support, saying: “(The listeners) have been amazing. I love you dearly, and thank you so much for your support, your kindness and just being you!”

“I’m having a Dave Day!” was held to raise money for two charities: The Institute for Cancer Research, London and Childline, with a GoFundMe page you can donate to RIGHT HERE.

Dave's wife Lili with Mark Jeeves:

Speaking to the crowd earlier on, Si said: "Everybody's got that lovely Dave sartorial elegance about them, ie dodgy shirt. Some of them have had them specially printed, it's remarkable.

"You never know how these things are going to impact you. It is a celebration of Dave's life.

Mark Jeeves at the finish in Barrow:

"That's why we're here, because he was so irritatingly positive all of the time. And we love him and that's why we're here."

Dave Myers died aged 66 on 28th February 2024 following a heroic two-year battle with cancer.
