It's been quite the year for 'Price Tag' singer Jessie J, who's been undergoing treatment for breast cancer, while also planning a tour and working on new music. In August, the 37-year-old dropped her single 'Believe In Magic', and in September she announced a brand new album called 'Don't Tease Me With a Good Time', which has now been released.

The album dropped on 28th November, and after announcing the album's release with a heartfelt message to her fans, the singer opened up in an interview with This Morning about the heartbreaking inspiration for her song 'I'll Never Know Why'. Find out more about the album and the songs on it below...

'Don't Tease Me With a Good Time'

On the release day, Jessie took to social media to share her excitement at releasing the album, telling her fans in a heartfelt statement: 'I started writing this album 6 years ago AND IT’S OUT NOWWWWWWWW!!! DON’T TEASE ME WITH A GOOD TIME!!! 🫀🫀🫀🫀🫀💿💿💿💿💿💿

'I’m sobbing posting this. Like happy ugly proud tears.

'Link is in bio for you to listen, come and cry with me 🫂😭😂'. (sic)

When was it written?

Jessie started writing the album back in 2019, but it was delayed by Covid and "life happened" the singer explained on This Morning.

"I started writing this album in 2019, I finished it in '22," Jessie told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. "So some of these songs are already five or six-years-old. Isn't that crazy?"

The singer went on to reveal that some people suggested scrapping the album, but she explained she loves the music, and even though some of it doesn't represent her now she can: "Re-imagine it to now".

The inspiration behind 'I'll Never Know Why'

Jessie J opened up about her song 'I'll Never Know Why', which was about her bodyguard. The singer told Ben and Cat on This Morning: "When I got famous, he was the person I'd phone and be like 'bro I need to go for a walk, this is too much for me,' and he was there for me so much.

"And, he decided he didn't want to be here seven years ago, and five years ago I wrote this song 'I'll Never Know Why', and I actually wasn't going to put it on the album, and when I played it to my new team, they were like 'you have to'! It's going to help so many people. And it's not easy to sing, but truly the message behind it, I've seen how people reacted to it in the last few weeks, (it) has been incredible."
