Tom Grennan reveals the significance behind his VERY long album title
'Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be' is out now
Last updated 15th Aug 2025
Tom Grennan's fourth album has finally arrived and on release day he joined Sam Thompson as he covered Hits Radio Breakfast. The singer, who is about to start his biggest-ever UK tour, told Sam about the significance behind his mega long album title - 'Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be'.
His chat with Sam Thompson shed light on the personal significance of his new work, which is not just a collection of songs, but a story of his journey so far.
'Everywhere I Went Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be'
Explaining how the album's long title reflects his journey and personal growth, Tom said: "It is me kind of saying, 'no matter what happens, I'll look back at the title and go, you know what actually, now I've championed myself and I've got better and I'm proud of myself'.
"I think for the rest of my life I'll be battling with the angel and the devil on my shoulder, however, is being able to say ‘tomorrow doesn't exist, yeah?' It’s today and today is what matters and when tomorrow comes... amazing."
During the chat, Tom also revealed that despite his album being released on 15th August, he's actually been 'sitting on it' for a year! The singer explained: "I've been sat on this album for a year or more and it just has been sitting in my files.
"I'm like this just needs to be heard now. And so many people have been asking me, like, when's it coming? When is it coming? And finally, obviously, I gave a date and it just feels amazing to be out, man. Like it's my fourth album!"
The Gillette song
It's hard to believe it's a year ago that Tom Grennan released his version of the iconic Gillette song 'The Best A Man Can Get', but while this year is all about Jess Glynne and the Jet2 ad, Tom admitted he's still getting people seeing him in the street, calling him "The Gillette Guy".
"I've been doing signings," he explained. "I've been meeting loads of fans and the amount of razors I've signed is crazy, so I get people on the street come saying 'Gillette guy'.
"Now Jess (Glynne) is the Jet2 Girl!"
When asked if he had any advice for her he said: "Lap it up, enjoy it. I actually never thought anybody would think it was me singing it!"
Dating advice
As many will know, our lovely Sam is currently single, so he asked Tom for some advice on questions he should ask on a first date. As Sam read out potential questions, Tom vetoed pretty much all of them saying: "Yeah. If somebody asked me, 'What you looking for in a relationship?' I'll go and... (walks out of the studio)." 😂
Sadly it looks like Sam might have to think carefully about the questions he's going to ask at his next date!

It hit me hard watching him comprehend what had happened, trying to compute the madness and sadness of his new world now that his mum whom he loved so dearly had passed.
"It triggered memories for me of the loss of my cousin and best friend Alan when I was just a teenager, it broke so many of us. The song unravelled from me quite quickly. It was cathartic on many levels, thoughts of loss and heartbreak, dealing with the grief of death, or the breakdown of a relationship or friendship.
"These are all things that seem to have dominated my life in recent years, but sadly never get any easier to navigate. I'm grateful that the passing of time allows us to look back and remember the good times."
