Ahead of the show, some quotes were released where the pair talked about their friendship of more than two decades, and why they chose the iconic venue of the London Palladium.

What song are you most excited to perform?

Elton said: "All of them to be honest, because we've never played them live! I think the first track we play is 'Who Believes in Angels?'. We did it in rehearsal and it sounds better than the record. Playing live is different to playing on the record because you can have more than one chance in the studio, when you play live you only have one chance."

Why did London and The Palladium feel like the right place to do this very special show?

Elton said: "The opportunity to play at such an iconic venue alongside Brandi is what attracted me. It's a beautiful theatre, a great venue for concerts. I think the intimate size of the audience will be perfect for this and I can't wait for viewers to watch it at home."

The programme was filmed on 26th March at The London Palladium, with a live band. It will feature several songs from the new album, along with their individual greatest hits. An Evening with Elton John and Brandi Carlile will be hosted by Emmy award-winning creator and close friend Dan Levy, best known for series Schitt's Creek.

Speaking about the programme, Katie Rawcliffe, Director of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning at ITV commented: "We're so excited to bring this unforgettable evening with the inimitable Elton John and acclaimed Brandi Carlile to our audiences on ITV1 and ITVX. Following the success of our recent music specials ‘An Evening with Dua Lipa’ and ‘Katy Perry: Night of a Lifetime’, this show promises to be a special one, filled with incredible music, poignant moments, and stories from their remarkable careers at one of London’s most iconic venues."

Gabe Turner, Partner at Fulwell Entertainment added: "It’s an absolute thrill to be working again with Elton John on this special evening, alongside the brilliant Brandi Carlile. We know that audiences are in for a real treat and it’s been a pleasure for all of us at Fulwell Entertainment to bring this project to life."
