Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd opens up to fans following second leg amputation

It was only a few weeks ago that Irish actress Ruth Codd appeared on The Celebrity Traitors, alongside Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns. As viewers will have noticed, Ruth had one leg amputated below the knee, which was due to an injury as a teenager that didn't heal.

However, the actress has now revealed in a video to her fans that she also had to have her other leg amputated below the knee. A few weeks ahead of the surgery Ruth revealed the reasons in an Instagram video, where she explained to a tattoo artist: "I was on crutches for eight years and the way I used my crutches I was always kind of up on my tippy-toes, so the joints in my feet were destroyed, and it's just kind of the same thing. It's gone past the point where they can kind of do anything about it.

"I've already had to have all my toes amputated, so I have no toes, so my foot looks like a little hamburger!"

Now, having had the surgery, Ruth is staying with her parents and has opened up to her fans saying it's: "A lot to unpack".

She started off saying: "Hi guys, so I have some good news and some bad news! Good news, we've had a full circle moment, I'm back making TikTok content in my parents' house. Bad news, I can't do it in front of that lovely blue, floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact, that room was upstairs and I've just had my second below knee amputation, so unfortunately those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time.

"Yes, so, a lot to unpack there for everyone involved... Really, this light is probably the least of my worries!"

The actress went on to introduce her fans to her wheelchair.

Following her most recent video, fans have been sending her messages of support, with one writing: 'I’ve obviously missed a few videos so I’m going to just scroll back a bit and probably cry but whatever happened you look super beautiful and amazing and you can do anything always and forever 🙌'.

Another wrote: 'hope you're ok and have a speedy recovery'.

Ruth also commented to her fans: 'Guys stop being nice to me it's weirding me out'.

Working as a professional make-up artist before the pandemic, Ruth rose to fame after she started sharing videos on TikTok. Since then she has starred in the Netflix series The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher and most recently on Celebrity Traitors.
