Slipknot's Eloy Casagrande cries meeting his hero Bill Ward at Black Sabbath concert

Slipknot and former Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande was overcome with emotion meeting his hero Bill Ward backstage at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert on Saturday night (5th July).
Hours after Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne performed live for the final time at Villa Park, Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne shared a series of photos from the concert.
One image captured the poignant moment 34-year-old Brazilian powerhouse drummer Eloy Casagrande met his percussive idol, Bill Ward.
Casagrande himself also shared the image, writing: “Where it all began. Where it all will end. Your music will be eternal, master. Thank you. @billwarddrummer.”
Although he wasn’t listed as one of the performers, Eloy Casagrande did join Mastodon on stage along with Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier and Tool’s Danny Carey to perform Black Sabbath’s ‘Supernaut’ on a small percussion kit.
Slipknot turntable wizard Sid Wilson performed the opening DJ set at Villa Park, and he proposed to girlfriend Kelly Osbourne after the gig.
Bill Ward’s thunderous performance with Black Sabbath was the first time he’d shared the stage with Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi in 20 years.
Sabbath opened with ‘War Pigs’ and played ‘N.I.B’ and ‘Iron Maiden’ before bringing the day to a close with ‘Paranoid’.
