People are putting Cheerios in a blender to make edible sand for kids and it's GENIUS
You need to try this if you have young children!
Since the UK was put into lockdown by Prime Minister Boris Johnson back in March, to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and protect the NHS, households up and down the country have come up with ingenious inventions and ways to keep themselves occupied, from skip hot tubs, to amazing TikTok routines, we really have seen it all!
And now, despite lockdown rules beginning to ease slightly and life looking a bit more normal, the Internet is still packed with genius inventions to help keep children occupied whilst the schools remain mostly shut.
The most recent hack to do the rounds is by a mum called @elleannachristine on TikTok, who has made some 'edible sand' for her young children using popular breakfast cereal Cheerios!
If your kids are into arts and crafts and sensory play, but are too young to understand they can't eat the sand, then this is perfect for you...
The video shows Elle using a NutriBullet to blend some Cheerios, creating a very real-looking sand pit for her young daughter to play in with her sensory toys, and of course, it doesn't matter if the toddler attempts to eat it, like most toddlers do!
You can watch the full TikTok video here.
After seeing the viral video, many parents across the world have been testing out the hack, expressing their love on Twitter.
One user wrote, 'My new favourite thing is edible sand made from blended Cheerios! #safesensoryplay'.
Another wrote, 'Back to the usual Wednesday role. Put Cheerios/oats in the nutribullet/blender and you have ‘sand’ that’s safe to eat (warning, it gets everywhere!). #EYFS #learningthroughplay'. (sic)
Of course, be warned that this is a little messy, but it's a great technique to use if you are homeschooling your young children!
