West Yorkshire Police officer charged with child sex offences

He will appear in court later this week

A West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with a number of non-recent child sex offences.

PC Marcus Newbold, aged 29, who is based in Kirklees District, has been charged with rape a girl under 13, assault a girl under 13 by penetration, four counts of assault a girl under 13 by touching and two counts of cause/incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, 3 January, 2025.

The charges relate to offences against one victim between 2007 and 2011. PC Newbold joined West Yorkshire Police in January 2021 and the offences were reported to the police in September 2022. He has been suspended from duty since that time.
