Three men have been arrested following reports of a racially aggravated public order offence in Leeds city centre.

West Yorkshire Police said officers were contacted at around 12.47am on Sunday after receiving a report that three men had surrounded an Asian man in Brunswick Terrace and allegedly directed racist language towards him.

The caller also reported that the men had been removed from the Stick and Twist pub on Merrion Way shortly before the incident. They were also alleged to have performed a Nazi salute.

Following enquiries, three men aged 25, 26 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences. All three were taken into police custody.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time and may have seen what happened.

Officers are also urging anyone with relevant footage to come forward.
