Appeal after delivery driver robbed at knifepoint in Huddersfield
The victim was targeted by three men in Birkby last week
A 15 year old boy has been arrested and released on bail, after a takeaway delivery driver was the victim of a knifepoint robbery in Huddersfield.
The victim went to an address on Poplar Street in Birkby on December 3 to make a delivery.
The home he went to was empty but as he got back into his car he was approached by three men who dragged him from the vehicle before threatening him with a blade.
The takeaway was stolen before the three men ran off, leaving the victim unhurt.
One of the suspects was described as of mixed race, in his mid 20s’s, 5ft 2ins to 5ft 3ins tall wearing a cream coat with the hood up and dark coloured trousers.
Another was white, 5 ft 4 to 5ft 5ins inches tall of medium build, wearing a dark coloured coat and lighter coloured possibly cream trousers.
The third was of medium build, between the height of the above two suspects and wearing a coat with a hood.
PC Smith of the Kirklees District Crime Team, of West Yorkshire Police, said:
”We are continuing to investigate this incident and are exploring the possibility that suspects put in a fake order to the takeaway business in order to lure a driver to the location.
“The victim was fortunately not harmed but was understandably shaken by the incident.
“We very much want to speak with any witnesses and particularly anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage which shows the offence or a group of three male suspects approaching the driver or leaving the area.
“Anyone who can assist enquiries is asked to contact the Kirklees District Crime Team on 101 or online at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat referencing crime number 13240658336.
“Information can also be given anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
