200 tools recovered by police and three charged following raids in Leeds

Police in Leeds have seized more than 200 tools and other items of equipment following a series of raids, during which eight men were arrested.

It's part of an operation targeting organised theft from vans in the city, which has been impacting local tradespeople.

Nathan Furnisse, aged 30, of Broadlea View, Bramley, and Michael Thompson, aged 36, of Fairfield Hill, Bramley, were arrested in November and are charged with conspiracy to commit theft from motor vehicles between July and October last year.

They are due for trial at Leeds Crown Court on May 22.

Joseph James, aged 39, of Rycroft Gardens, Bramley, was arrested in December and has been charged with theft from motor vehicle. He is next due in court on July 5.

Five others remain under investigation.

Police are now trying to reunite the tools with their owners, as several have identifying marks on them.
