Leeds Rhinos have suffered a major blow with the news that star signing Maika Sivo has been ruled out for the whole of the 2025 Super League season through injury.

Sivo, who signed a three-year contract from NRL side Parramatta Eels this year, injured his left knee in the first half of Sunday's friendly against Wigan.

Subsequent tests have determined that the Fiji winger has suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament that will require surgery.

Rhinos head coach Brad Arthur said: "Our first thoughts are with Maika and we will all get round him and give him and his family our support.

"Our medical team will make sure he has the best possible treatment to come back from the injury as soon as possible. Maika is a strong character and I am sure he will throw himself into his recovery to get back to his best."

Along with Ryan Hall and Jake Connor, Sivo was one of the big names brought in by the Rhinos as they bid to end a run of two straight seasons without securing a play-off berth.
