TWO new cafés are due to open in Darley Street Market as part of the first major shake up of the centre since it opened this Summer.

Adam Halliday who currently runs cafes at both Keighley and Halifax markets, will taking over the two café spaces on the ground floor of the city centre market, with his famous jacket potatoes taking over one space while his traditional market café will take over the other.

The soft opening of Darley Spuds will be held on Monday (December 1) while the traditional market café will have its soft opening on Wednesday (December 3).

Adam’s Café, Bradford will be serving up an extensive menu including a traditional English breakfast menu. An all-day full English breakfast including a hot drink is priced at just £7.95. The menu also includes a vegetarian breakfast, bacon and sausage sandwiches and toasted currant teacakes.

There will also be traditional café staples including roast of the day, pie and peas, burgers, pies, omelettes and chips, hot and cold sandwiches and soups. Adam’s Café will also have a kid’s menu as well as daily seasonal homemade specials such as beef stew, casserole and hotpot dishes.

He will still be continuing both his Keighley and Halifax market cafes.

One of the units will be replacing Caffe Brigante – which will be moving from its current unit to Darley Street Kitchen on the top floor.

It will continue selling coffee, continental bakes and flavoured tiramisu.

The other unit will be replacing Nourish. Bradford Council has not revealed the fate of that café – which has been in the market since it opened.

Mr Halliday said: “We’re delighted to be expanding and growing our business and taking on more staff when we open at the new Darley Street Market.

“We can’t wait to bring our famous jacket potatoes, full English breakfasts as well as our traditional lunchtime and family favourites to the heart of Bradford.

“We will still continue to operate our cafés at both Keighley and Halifax markets, so there’s no change there. We’re looking forward to meeting new customers in Bradford, as we start this exciting new chapter of the business.

“We’ve got our soft openings next week to help our staff settle into their new surroundings and then we will be raring to go. Come down and see us, we’ve so much on offer all at reasonable prices. Come and make Darley Spuds and Adam’s Café your regular breakfast or lunchtime spots.”

Simone Alrababa from Caffé Brigante, said: “We’re not leaving the market or Bradford – we’re just moving our traditional authentic Italian coffee and our popular cakes, pastries and of course our tiramisu to the top floor.

“This will complement our other Darley Steet Kitchen outlet Pizzeria Il Forno which serves traditional woodfired pizza. We wish Adam and his team all the best and welcome them to the Darley Street Market family of traders.”

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport said: “I’d like to extend a warm Darley Street Market welcome to Adam and his team.

“His café at our Keighley Market does fantastic food and has been a long-standing success, so I’m sure he will do well. We’ve always said we wanted Darley Street Market to represent the best of the district, so I’m delighted one of our brilliant Keighley traders is expanding and joining the team at Darley Street Market.

“We’re delighted to be able to expand the range of food on offer at the market even further, with Darley Spuds and Adam’s Café in the ground floor café spaces, while also retaining the authentic Italian flavours of Caffe Brigante as it moves up to Darley Street Kitchen.”

At the last full meeting of Bradford Council in October it was revealed that over 500,000 people had visited the market in just three months.
