Police are investigating a suspected shooting in Huddersfield, after a man turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officers were tipped off on November 10 after a 31 year old man attended Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with an injury to his shoulder.

He wasn't seriously hurt and was later discharged.

A 19 year old man has been arrested and released on bail following the incident, which is thought to have happened in the Unna Way underpass at around 7:30pm on November 10.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw a '21' plate black Audi A3 saloon and a grey Seat hatchback driving together though the tunnel.

They're thought to have then headed off in different directions, with the Seat driving towards Leeds Road and the Audi towards Northumberland Road and John William Street towards Westgate.

Detective Inspector Dan Bates, who is leading the investigation for West Yorkshire Police, said:

“We believe the incident in which the man received his injury occurred in the underpass.

“This is being treated as a targeted attack and we do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.

“However, any discharge of a firearm in a public place is a serious matter and will be fully investigated to identify those responsible.”
